Prescriptions
Order a repeat prescription in the NHS App. It is quicker than ringing us, and you can see what is ready.
Order in the NHS App
- Open the NHS App and sign in.
- Choose Prescriptions, then the medicine you need.
- Choose your pharmacy. We send the prescription there electronically.
If you cannot use the NHS App, put your repeat slip in the box at reception, or post it to us. We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone.
How long it takes
Please allow 3 working days from when we receive your request. The pharmacy may need another day to prepare it. Order before you run out, not when you run out.
Your nominated pharmacy
Your prescription goes to the pharmacy you have chosen. You can change it in the NHS App, at the pharmacy, or by telling us. If you collect from a pharmacy in Hindley, tell us which one.
Questions about your medicine
A pharmacist can answer most questions about doses, side effects and interactions, usually without an appointment. For a query about your repeat prescription, send us an online request and choose the admin option.
Medication reviews
We review repeat medicines at least once a year. If you are invited, bring all your medicines, including anything you buy. Some reviews need a blood test first; we will tell you if yours does.
Charges and prepayment
Most prescriptions cost a fixed charge. If you need several items a month, aprepayment certificate is usually cheaper. Some people do not pay at all; check before you pay.
Old medicines
Take medicines you no longer need to any pharmacy. Do not put them in the bin.
Out of your medicine?
Ask your pharmacy first. They can often give an emergency supply or lend you enough until your repeat arrives.
